KDX175B RHS engine case gasket and other bits
« on: December 20, 2017, 08:53:25 PM »
Hi

New to the your forum. Love the pics and videos.

Just wondering where would be the best place to get a right hand side engine case gasket for a KDX175B? How much would I be up for one?

And a few more bits:

New air filter (it disintegrated in my hands like sand)
New tank (plastic, I guess as the original steel ones are none existent)
Rear mudguard
Seat (it got lost 10 years ago apparently)
Either a new rear tyre valve or new rear tube as it wont accept any air from my pump.
Clutch lever (can pick one up from Joes wreckers in Fyshwick)

Cheers
Steve

P.S. Im in Canberra

Hi Steve

You might need ebay or forums for things like tanks and seats, but a lot of little things are still available new. Try Partzilla:

http://www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motorcycle/1980/kdx175-kdx175-a1

I don’t think the 175 came out as a B model, just A1, 2, and 3.

Cheers

Hi Jamie

Thanks for your link. I have seen Partzilla for little bits and have been trawling ebay, gumtree etc.

Its definately a B. The compliance plate has 6/81 and then KDX175B. I will try and take a pic.

Have a look at the ad in the first page of this thread: vintage ads thread: http://vinduro.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=1296.0

Says it had a steel tank. I have the horn, indicator switch and lights switch, i.e. high-low beam etc. Also a threaded base for a right hand side mirror on the bars....has all the wiring for where im presuming a battery used to be.

Cheers
Steve

Steve, the add you're referring to says UK market model KDX's. You'll find most dirt bikes like IT's and PE's had steel tanks fitted as part of their compliance rules in the UK and some parts of Europe. For Australian models however they are plastic tanks.
Partzilla is good to cross reference parts to other models. The KX 125 A6/A7 (80&81) share similar chassis parts. Ebay is your best bet but get your wallet out as most Kawasaki parts are expensive especially rear suspension parts when buying genuine.

Thanks Brooksie, that clears up the tank question. Appreciate it.

Off to the local wreckers today to have a snoop around.

Cheers

Last I heard it was for sale, if I weren't culling I'd have bought it I think as it was running but needed a tank and the kick start problem sorting out. Steve was chasing only a very reasonable price.
