Another one
« on: August 08, 2011, 02:32:37 AM »
Picked this one up off Ebay on Friday, was local here in Sydney. I had one of these back in 2004. Basically bullet proof and a top end aslong as The Great Wall of China.
Apart from the normal issues of Husky water pump housing rot, which can now be replaced with new ones in Aluminum, I swore I would get another watercooled Husky.
Apart from looking scruffy it's a very original bike, has original lighting equipment, speedo, switch block. Hasn't run for about 6 years, has plenty of comp, so I'll try and fire it up this week.
I gave it a quick hit with the gerni and it's come up 100% better.

Cheers Jock. Hope to have this one going sometime this year. It has cleaned up alot better. I cleaned the carby out and fired up basically first kick. So far it has a blown shock, linkage bearings non existant but all in all a pretty good thing. I have started to gather a few parts here and there.
The good thing about Huskies are their interchangability between models. Just about every model can be mish mashed around. Can't wait to get it on a Vinduro. ;D

Here's a pics of my old 1985.5 WR 240. Bought it from a mate who found it under a house in pieces. The original owner hit a tree stump and destroyed the front wheel and tore the steering head from the frame. It was running a PE 400 front wheel and backing plate before I changed it to a later model USD front end. Trail and Track tested both the WR400 and 240 and were blown away with the power and ridability of both models.

That is my favourite shape Husky 8). Why don't you do something about getting it going ???

I dogged the XR 200's for years but after riding AdamN's 84 model I was pleasantly surprised - Brooksie

I have fired this beast up lately. Motor sounds pretty smooth, no unwanted noises. Will still get a full tear down and inspection though.
