Husky 1974 WR400
« on: October 05, 2014, 11:53:13 PM »
I have an ongoing issue with the 6 speed Gearbox on my 74 WR400 Husky. It is not selecting gears, and have had the gears re cut by a mechanical engineer by hand.
Still the problem appears. If anyone has had similar experience I would appreciate any information and or referrals to a reputable repairer anywhere in Australia, who could help me sort this gearbox problem out .
Thankyou.. Peter.

Selection may not necessarily be as a result of gear condition. Generally selection issues stem from poor fork and/or drum condition or worn spacers on the drive/driven shafts. Not sure how the Husky's work in that regard.

Another thing to look at is the selector shaft linkages, these wear and effectively "shorten" the travel or throw of the selector arm.

Have you any pics of you '74 Husky?

Cheers,
Chris.
